FAITH Saginaw Spring 2009 : Page 2
A toast to our brother To our brother, uncle and great-uncle, Congratulations from all of us on your 25th anniversary as a bishop. We know how blessed you feel to have shared your ministry with the special people of Minneapolis, St. Paul, Sioux Falls and Saginaw. You have worked hard and met all the challenges along the way, with grace, heart, honesty, generosity, humor and lots of love. You have unselfishly dedicated your life to doing God’s work. You have followed through with your commitment at times when your own choices in life might have been different. You have given up planned vacations and worked extra hours in order to be with Dad and Mom when they were ill. You attended family special occasions whenever possible. Your faith in doing God’s work is both admirable and commendable. We deeply appreciate that you have baptized every niece and nephew, officiated at their weddings and now baptized each of your grand-nieces and nephew. While Mom and Dad couldn’t be here for this celebration, we know they are together in heaven smiling down on you, and, like us, are proud beyond words. So we toast you with this Irish blessing that was a favorite of theirs: May the road rise up to meet you, May the wind be always at your back, May the sun shine warm upon your face, And the rain fall soft upon your fields, And until we meet again, May God hold you in the palm of His hand.
