There also are syndicated columns, such as In the Know with Fr. Joe, Work Life, Your Mar- In these pages, you will find insightful columns and uplifting testimonies. For example, each issue will feature a cover story about a faithful person, family or riage Matters, Parenting Journey, Theology 101 and Spiritual Fitness. These are designed to provide knowledge about our faith and offer encouragement to readers as they live out their own. Each issue also will feature a column from Bishop Carlson, so that you might know our local shepherd more personally and he may have another forum to lead us closer to Christ. FAITH Saginaw also will provide dioc- esan readers with local news and global church news. With the publication of this first edition of FAITH Saginaw, our diocese joins evan- gelization and outreach forces with nine other U.S. dioceses that have partnered with FAITH Publishing since it began FAITH Magazine in the Diocese of Lansing in 2000. Our sister publications include FAITH Welcome Let us share our faith Grand Rapids (also launched this month in the Diocese of Grand Rapids); BCTV in the Archdiocese of Boston; FAITH in the Diocese of Erie, Pa.; La Fe, in the Diocese of Laredo, Texas; Harvest in the Diocese of Portland, Maine; NC Catholics in the Diocese of Raleigh, N.C.; St. Augustine Catholic in the Diocese of St. Augustine, Fla.; and The Parable in the Diocese of Manchester; N.H. Together, the 12 FAITH titles produce around 90 issues each year with more than 4.2 million magazines circulated annually. The theme of this premiere issue of FAITH Saginaw is “Joy,” one of the “Fruits of the Holy Spirit” (which is the FAITH Publishing theme for 2007). In the coming pages, Anne and Greg Prenzler will share the joy of new life through the arrival of their children (our cover story). Also, Tassie Pochopien will share the joy she finds in our Catholic heritage; and you will be offered a unique glimpse into the joys of sharing our faith with “everyone’s mother,” Theresa Henderson. And once you’ve finished reading this premiere magazine, I encourage you to pass on your FAITH. - Matt Treadwell is editor in chief of FAITH Saginaw and communications director for the Catholic Diocese of Saginaw. ‘‘ Liturgical Calendar: Octave of Christmas: The Blessed Virgin Mary, The Mother of God Jan. 1 (not a holy day of obligation this year) | Sts.
